Antique Erzgebirge Putz Penny Toy Beer Cart Wagon 1920s Germany This little German Erzgebirge beer cart / wagon penny toy dates from 1910s to 1920s. The front part of the cart needs repair. The rest is in very good antique condition. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.. These little toys were called Penny Toys, because they originally cost 1 cent. These little pieces are wonderful as part of a Christmas Putz village, and indeed, were used as part of a play set. These little toys are highly prized by collectors, because of the folk art charm. Toys like this have been made in Erzgebirge for generations. The patterns were passed down from father to son, in these artisan families.
