This beautiful vintage Japanese puzzle box is lots of fun. It has a hidden drawer that children and adults find fascinating. The hidden drawer operates by slightly sliding a side panel down a fraction, causing the painted bird inside to disappear. This wooden box has beautiful inlaid marquetry and is hand painted on the top, bottom and on the drawer inside. The box measures approximately 5 ½ x 3 ¾ x 1 ¾”. The box is slightly warped on one end as you can see in the photos, however the hidden drawer feature still operates. Operating the Box: First, open the box (Mt. Fuji side up) to show the drawer with the painted bird inside. Then fully close the box. Then slide the hidden panel down (towards yourself) and reopen the box. The bird disappears and all you see is an empty drawer. The trick to activating the hidden drawer is the end panel on the left side. The person you are showing the trick to will not notice that you secretly slid this panel down a fraction. Be careful not to pull the drawer out all the way as it is difficult to reinsert. You can also put things in the drawer (such as a dollar) and it disappears along with the bird. This puzzle box will ship USPS Ground Advantage from a non-smoking home.
